Block Diwas: DC Kathua holds Public Grievance Redress Camp at Nagri
KATHUA, OCTOBER 13: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rahul Yadav today convened a Public Grievance Redress Camp here at BDO Office Nagri to take appraisal of the problems and grievances of  the people.
Scores of individuals and deputations led by PRIs put forth the issues related to the development and other amenities of their respective areas.
Sarpanch Jakhbar demanded signages and speed breakers on main Nagri- Kathua to minimise accident rate in the area. He also demanded early restoration of protected area affected by recent rains and floods. Municipal Councillor ward no 6 demanded establishment of procurement Mandi in the area.
Representatives of Airawan panchayat  demanded Panchayat Ghar Building and repair of Nagri-Airwan Mandir road besides demanding  construction  of culvert on Sample Sapla- Chack road. Tarafwala Sarpanch highlighted the issue of shortage of staff and facilities in SDH Nagri and problems faced in  linking  Adhaar and availability of Minor minerals for construction purposes.
DDC Member Sandeep Majotra highlighted the issue of doubling the Nagri- Kathua road and opening of a procurement centre, while BDC Chairperson  Khajan Chand demanded disposal of genuine demands and problems projected by Sarpanchs.
President MC Nagri, Anil Singh projected the demand for provision of land for Sports Ground and addressing the problem of drinking water scarcity in different wards of Nagri town.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the demands and problems of the people, passed on the spot instructions to the concerned departments for redressing the issues in stipulated time frame.
Regarding the construction of Culvert and bridge, the DC directed the concerned officers to make DPR so that funds can be arranged from appropriate authorities.
The DC disclosed that the Panchayat wise projects under Jal Jeewan Mission have been submitted for all 256 Panchayats which will cater to the drinking water demand of rural areas. He also assured that the road widening work on Nagri- Kathua and construction of Airwan Mandir road will be taken up at the earliest.
He directed Revenue officers to identify land for Sports ground and Panchayat Ghar in consultation with the elected PRIs.
He informed that the government has issued directions to identify all Divyangs in need of Prosthetic aids including wheelchairs, hearing aids, Motorized tricycles, scooties and other aids in association with  ALIMCO. He appealed to PRI and ULB representatives to submit all related cases through the Social Welfare department.
He appreciated the people of Nagri for achieving 100% first dose of Covid Vaccination and  advised them to take the second dose at due time.
The DC also called upon the farmers to opt composite farming to double their farm income.
Referring to the ongoing Clean India Programme, the Deputy Commissioner asked people to discourage the use of banned plastic and open defecation to make cleanliness a routine affair in their respective areas.
On the occasion, a Nukkad Natak was presented by BDO office Nagri propagating the use of biodegradable and complete phasing out of Polythene related products.
Earlier, SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal appealed to people to cooperate with the police authorities in curbing the menace of drug abuse in Nagri. He said Police have lodged over seventy FIRs on people involved in making illicit liquor and drug peddling.
Similarly Block Diwas camps were also organised at Billawar, Basohli Sub -Districts and  Bani and Hiranagar Sub divisions  today.
