‘Back to Village’ programme: DC Kargil convenes interactive session
KARGIL, JUNE 18: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today held separate meetings and interactive sessions with the District Officers and PRI members including Sarpanchs, Panchs and Nambardars to review the preparations for ensuing ‘Back to Village’ programme.
The DC stressed on the main objectives of the initiative which among others include ensuring that newly formed PRIs are stabilised to enhance their functional efficacy. He further emphasised the importance of grassroots planning by the PRIs which forms the backbone of the PRI Act.
The DC exhorted upon the PRI members to come up with innovative, sustainable and inclusive plans in Gram Sabhas which shall be conducted during the ‘Back to Village’ initiative.
He also appealed the participants to be active stakeholders in the governance of the district by strengthening the grassroots institutions and their participation in planning as well implementation of the schemes on ground. 
While urging officers to start making necessary preparations for successful implementation of the programme, the DC asked them to effectively enlighten the Front Line Workers besides chalking out the activities to be undertaken during the programme. 
Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil Imteeaz Kacho,  SDM Drass Pawan Kotwal,  SDM Sankoo Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani,  SDM Shakar Chiktan Ghulam Mehdi,  District Panchayat Officer Shabir Hussain, all district officers besides Sarpanchs  and Nambardars from different blocks of the district attended the meetings.
